For a positive future

Since its launch in 2010, NorthSide Festival in Aarhus, Denmark, has focused on sustainability. Key initiatives include switching to plant-based food, using grid electricity instead of diesel, and working with Tuborg to reduce beer-related emissions. These steps helped cut CO₂ emissions by 30% in 2022 compared to 2019, despite higher attendance.

NorthSide has published annual sustainability reports since 2015, with the 2022 edition featuring detailed CO₂ analyses and case studies. The festival earned a “Highly Commended” nod from A Greener Festival in 2023 and has also replaced single-use plastic cups with reusables and became Denmark’s first fully plant-based festival in 2022.
